Our tour guides show us the process of making panuela and guarpo, juice from raw sugar cane.
This week, we had the privilege to attend tours of Comfama’s facilities in Itagüi and in Las Caldes as well as the opportunity to take a walking tour of downtown, provided by one of the professors at the University. It was interesting to see photos from Medellín’s past juxtaposed with the images of present day Medellin today. On Saturday, we visited Comfama’s recreational park, Tutucán, in Rionegro where our tour guides, dressed as one of the first settlers and a doctor from the 19th century, showed us how to make panuela and let us taste raw coffee beans.
